US: Annual Average Hourly Earnings up 2.2% in August

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The US Annual Average Hourly Earnings increased by 2.2% in August, following a 1.9% rise in July, the US Department of Labor reported today. Analysts expected a 2% increase. On a monthly basis Average Hourly Earnings rose by 0.2%, after remaining unchanged and against forecasts of +0.2%.

Average Weekly Hours climbed to 34.5 from 34.4, against expectations of remaining at 34.5.

GBP/USD soars on disappointing NFP

The GBP/USD soared to fresh highs as the dollar weakened broadly after data showed the US economy created fewer jobs than expected in August although the unemployment rate ticked down.
